2. General Settings
Navigate to Portal Settings > General:
- Community Name: Enter a unique name for your portal (avoid using “Portal” as it will be confusing to you!).
- Community Portal URL: Set your portal’s URL to
/portal/
as the default. - Setup Type: Select Blank Setup for maximum customization.
- Access: Choose “Only Logged In Users” or “Everyone,” depending on your audience.
- Click Save Changes.
💡 Tip: Fluent Community settings can be accessed via two methods:
- From Fluent Community > Portal Settings in your admin dashboard.
- From the gear icon in the left sidebar of the portal itself, once the portal is set up. This icon is located at the bottom of the sidebar and provides quick access to settings.
3. Customizations
Navigate to Portal Settings > Customizations:
- Colors & Branding: Set colors to align with your brand.
- Portal Layout: Choose from default layouts or customize further.
- Header & Footer: Ensure compatibility with WooCommerce login/logout settings.
- Dark Mode: Spencer does not recommend enabling this option.
- Click Save Changes.
Note: For advanced design control, use the Fluent Community Customizer, which allows more detailed layout and style adjustments. See the Fluent Community Customizer post for more details.
4. Space Groups & Spaces
Navigate to Portal Settings > Space Groups:
- Create Space Groups: Examples include “Community Spaces” or “Learning Spaces.”
- Add Spaces: Assign each space to a group. Examples:
- Welcome to Our Community (introductions and guidelines).
- Community Conversations (general discussion).
- Events & Announcements (updates and special events).
- Set Privacy: Keep spaces private unless they are public-facing.
- Click Save Changes.
5. Manage Courses
Navigate to Portal Settings > Manage Courses:
- Create simple courses quickly and easily.
- If you need a more complex course, we recommend using LearnDash, which is available in your Minute Launch Software Kit.
- Course Visibility: Adjust settings to align with community access levels.
6. Menu Settings
Navigate to Portal Settings > Menu Settings:
- Review default menu links.
- Add or remove links based on community needs.
- Click Save Changes.
7. Features & Add-ons
Navigate to Portal Settings > Features & Add-ons:
- Enable or disable features based on your needs:
- Fluent Community Chat: Recommended for member engagement.
- Giphy Integration: Requires an account and an API.
- Media Uploads: Keep disabled unless external storage (e.g., Cloudflare R2 or Amazon S3) is configured.
- Click Save Changes.
8. Privacy & Access Management
Navigate to Portal Settings > Access Management:
- Enable FluentCRM Integration: Turn this on if using FluentCRM for tag-based access.
- Leave “Create Contact” and “Create WordPress User” unchecked if WooCommerce handles user management.
- Click Save Changes.
This setup ensures your Fluent Community Portal is fully functional and aligned with your branding and user needs. Additional customization options, like advanced course features, can be implemented as your community grows.
